"How dare you infer that I would lie?" I ranted into the phone. "No...that's wrong...I've never been late with a payment. What notices?! I haven't gotten any notices. Well, I suggest you check your records again and make sure you have the right Frances Charleston. Have a nice day." I slammed the down the phone.

I walked into the living room, where Mike was bagged out.
"Sorry, buddy, they won't turn the cable back on. They think I'm a felon."
"Bummer." He adjusted his seat and winced in pain.
"You okay?"
"Just a twinge. I'm fine."
"I guess you'll have to find something else to keep yourself occupied."
"Or someone," he said slyly, and winked at me.
"Ew." I cringed at the thought of him and Jane doing the ugly monkey. It wasn't that he slept with girls that bothered me. It was the fact that we had slept with the same girl..... Oh, jeez, yuck. Jane, please god.
I wandered over to Hugo's place hoping to find a friendly face. Hugo wasn't there; but Jenn was.
I always liked Jenn.
"You should've been a dyke." I told her once.
"Why, would you come after me if I were?" she shot back flirtatiously.
"Would you run away?" I grinned at her.
"I dunno."

Straight women will never cease to amaze me. They say they're not interested in being with a woman, but boy, do they act and flirt and tease like they want to be.
No matter. Tonight, all I was looking for was some coffee and a friendly face.
"Just a cappuccino, thanks Jenn."
"Why the long face, Fran?" asked Jenn in her comforting tone.
"Just tired," I said. "Mike got hurt yesterday, and he's laid up....
"I thought you were tired..."
"Huh, yeah...I am. Tired but restless -- and Jane was going to see him and..."
"Hey, what happened to house rules? No tricks, no dicks, no chicks?"
"Oh, yeah. Well, I kinda bent them. But..."
"But, you don't much want him seeing Jane."
"No...no...No. She's a wolf in women's clothing. I know. He'll get hurt...or something."
"Why do you care?" she asked pointedly.
