Eric

"It's great, Hugo. I mean, yeah it's a little weird knowing that he won't be spending time at "his place" anymore, but I'm glad."

Hugo is wearing his "golf" outfit. I never understood the concept of white pants, pink shirts, white shoes, ascots, matching caps...but if there's one person on the planet that can pull it off -- it's Hugo. I admired the poinsettia pin on his ascot.

"I'm sorry, Eric, what? I wasn't listening, I was busy watching you get your THIRD BIRDIE THIS MORNING!"

"Suffer, Hugo. If you practiced more....I said being a married man is nice. Real nice."

"You mean to tell me, just because Andrew has junked that closet in Venice, his roving hands have come home to roost? Don't count on it."

We both know Andrew has had his "day in the sun." But, except for the odd Mark Fitzgerald now and then, I feel pretty safe. I mean, somewhat safe, I mean sort of. Okay! Hugo hit a soft spot.

"Hugo. You know something I don't?" I asked, practicing my tee shot.

"Greg told me about the swimming lawyer. Watch out, Eric. Iām psychic about these things. Greg says that Andrew gets all twisted up just at the mention of his name."

"Really?" THWAACK! I pounded the ball towards the fairway, pretending it was a Fitzgerald head. "I knew it was bad, I mean this guy apparently really left Drew in a funk when he dumped him in college -- but Jesus, that was years ago."

"Do you remember your first love?"

"Peter Zimmerman, a Jewish boy that looked exactly like JFK Jr....enough said. " I putt for a par and miss.

We golf a bit in silence. Hugo's game just got better. He sinks a birdie. I bogie.

"I called him. I called Fitzgerald." I land in a sandtrap.

"You DID WHAT?" Hugo asks.

" I called him at his office, invited him to dinner. I thought it was better to face this head on instead of letting it stew. I need to know this guy, Hugo. Maybe we could be friends..." I double bogie.

Hugo shakes his head. "You think he's still interested in Drew?"

"I'm not sure, but it doesn't matter if Mark's interested in Andrew. It matters if Andrew is interested in Mark.... well, I guess we'll find out next week when he shows up for dinner."

"Does Andrew know you've invited him?"

I land another approach in the rough. My game really is quite good today.
