I picked up the phone and dialed. Granville can wait a couple of minutes.
"Dr. Gardiner, please. Rob, hi....yeah, Sybel called this morning. Anything I should know?...You know, like donāt mention his mother-in-law, anything like that?...Uh-huh, yeah.......got it. Thanks, Rob. Weāll have you to the house as soon as heās settled. Okay, bye."

I hung up and looked at the phone message. I dialed again and held my breath.
"Dr. Sybel, please. Dr. Eric Lewis returning his call."
They put me through to his secretary, who sounded like "a friend of Dorothyās." I was pleasantly surprised. "Good afternoon, Doctor. Dr. Sybel wants to set a meeting with you next week. Are you available?"
"Uh, yes,ä I said, looking at my calendar. ćOkay, that would be great...2:00 oāclock. Looking forward to it. Thank you." I let my breath out. Okay, Eric. Donāt blow it.
There was a knock on my door. I put the phone down. "Come in," I said. Julie, the receptionist poked her head in and handed me a phone message. When she was safely gone, I dialed another number.
"Hi, is this Leading Electronics? How late are you open tonight? And do you carry very small microphones? I'm thinking very small, like ones that could fit in a pen maybe or the band of a baseball cap...great, thanks. Iām on my way."
I thought for a moment. Time for one more call.
"Yes, I'm trying to reach Mark Fitzgerald...."
