"Idon't understand you get to go play golf with Hugo while I have to unpackall by myself and then go to work!"

Eric is such a damn doctor sometimes. He doesn't even like golf, he justplays it because it's what bigtime surgeons are "supposed" todo. And because it's so private out there on the course, he and Hugo canhave a field day, catching up on who's doing what to who.

"Drew, it's my day off. I can't help it if my day off isn't the sameas yours. Why don't you call in sick and come with us?"

"I've called in sick so many times in the last month, they thinkI'm "Camille." Why donít you and Hugo stay here and helpme unpack?" He didnít even think about it!

"I want to be outside for a while. I need some fresh air. Listen, ifanyone from the Granville Clinic calls, give them my pager number, okay?"

"Arenít they that sports medicine clinic in Westwood?"I asked. He nodded, dismissively. "Hello. And theyíre callingbeca-a-ause..."

"I'm meeting them next week," he said impatiently, looking forhis golf glove.

That surprised me. "Why? Are they offering you a job?"

He shrugged me off. "Maybe."

Why canít I get any information from him??? Oh God, I'm getting soclingy already.

"Babe, I was gonna surprise you if and when I actually get it. It'snot a solid thing yet. But if it happens, youíll be the first toknow! And you can kiss the catering business goodbye!"

"Oh, great." I suddenly have a vision of me at home, playing kanastalike my mother, getting fat and having less of a life than I already don'thave -- wait a minute! What's wrong with me!?!?

Just when I really need him to put his arms around me....he does.

"I feel weird, this is weird, Eric. I'm supposed to be thrilled tobe here with you -- but it's weird. None of this feels like home."I clutch him to me.

"How can you expect it to, you've been here less than 48 hours. Giveyourself a break. Come on, call in sick, come with Hugo and me. Be our caddy."

"I will. But I think Iíll stay home and decorate for Christmas. We canít have a first Christmas together without even a mistletoe!"

"Let's have dinner at Citrus tonight, okay?î The doorbell rang, and I was about to become a golf widow. "There's Hugo. I'll call youwhen we're done." As he was walking out the door, he turned around. He gazed at me for a long moment and said, "I love you, Andrew. AndI'm so glad you're here. Don't forget that."

"I love you too, Eric."

He's gone.

Maybe I'll just go to the gym and work out. Or maybe just a swim.
